First head of dairy group dies

Tipton Linwood "Tip" Tipton, founding CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association, died Oct. 12 after what the association described as a year-long illness. He was 78. Tipton began his dairy career in the 1960s as an economist with Eastern Milk Producers Cooperative. Not long after, he was recruited to join the staff of the Milk Industry Foundation and International Ice Cream Association, two of the three groups that would merge to form IDFA in 1990.
